Pitch Clock Playoffs

In our last post, we pointed out the all-time lowest ratings in this year’s World Series.   The disastrous ratings were not just limited to the World Series, since the entire post season was down 8% from 2022.  In addition, games across FOX, FS1 and TBS/truTV averaged 3.1 million viewers, which was down from the 3.4 million viewers in 2022.

Again, where is all this pitch clock generated excitement, since both the World Series and the playoffs led to lower ratings than the prior year?  We have said this repeatedly here at BP, but baseball’s issues run much deeper than the length of the game.  In a coming post, we will look at the regular season, which tells two different stories between the national TV ratings on FOX, ESPN and TBS versus those from the local broadcasters.
